A slew of thrilling news items surfaced during the holidays, and should you overlooked any, here is a roundup of the most exciting bits.

One-Punch Man Season 3 Will Continue (Come 2027)

Truly the most shocking piece of news, the notorious troubled production that was the third season of One-Punch Man wasn't enough to stop more episodes. The show will be back with a follow-up batch of episodes in 2027—such a distant date they might as well have labeled it season 4. Adding to the surprise, animation studio J.C. Staff will continue to be leading the project. Thankfully this time, helmer Shinpei Nagai is set to direct from the outset, which might be a positive development. However, the main art for the second cour is the same image the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou facing different directions. This makes me think that, nowadays, they are probably teasing the fans.

Ruri Dragon Will Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has built a name for being an elite animation studio, making its mark not just for the high caliber of its productions but for the fair treatment of its employees—a sadly unusual standard in the industry. Surprisingly, until now, it had never worked on an anime adapted from a manga serialized in Shonen Jump, arguably the most iconic magazine in the field. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a great choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became widespread acclaim when it launched in 2022 after just a handful of installments, but then went into a lengthy break due to the author's health issues. When it came back with a more relaxed pace, the series showed it maintained the fans' support and enthusiasm, and now fans are thrilled about the upcoming KyoAni adaptation.

The Kingdom Series Season 6 Is Getting a Follow-Up Now in the Works

Kingdom is the best-selling, decades-spanning Shueisha manga that is other than One Piece. If you've are unfamiliar with it before, it's because it only fairly recently obtained an English release, but the anime has been airing for some time, and its sixth season was a further stellar entry. As it happens that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been revealed as in production, and it will almost certainly debut in 2026.

Science Saru Will Adapt A Witch in Mongolia Into an Anime Series

One more studio renowned for the artistic merit of its projects, Science Saru has given us masterpieces of the ilk of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, lastly, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be taking on the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, based on the true story of Fatima, an powerful woman and thinker in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Judging from the trailer, the anime named Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a truly original and fascinating visual style, which is somewhat reminiscent of Ranking of Kings. Debuting in July 2026, this one will definitely be on my watchlist.

Tougen Anki Will Continue With a Season Two

Right after the airing of the final episode of the first season, it was confirmed that Tougen Anki will be securing a second season. Inspired by the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki is based on the manga by Yura Urushibara.
