Eulogies Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks following the shocking loss of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community continue to honor the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced spending more time together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without mirth".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a different tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge agreed to block the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the LAPD.
A court order placed a restriction on the files to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" associated with the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a public database citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the deaths, public personalities offered different responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing provocative remarks that were broadly criticized by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the those speaking out recently. Conversing on his program, Rogan labeled the comments as "shocking" and implied they revealed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an associate should have acted when the decision to speak on the death was made.
