A systems problem at Edinburgh's air traffic control meant no planes could arrive or depart from the facility.

Flight operations have resumed at Edinburgh Airport after a substantial technical issue at the control tower brought the international hub to a standstill.

All incoming and outgoing flights were stopped due to an technical fault that arose around 08:30.

Some passengers were left waiting in planes on the runway while the issue persisted.

Flights Resume with Residual Impact

Officials announced at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and thanked passengers for their "patience and understanding".

However, significant disruption are likely to affect schedules. Services bound for key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been cancelled, with many others experiencing delays.

Officials had previously estimated that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be disrupted.

"Travelers are urged to contact their airlines for the most up-to-date details on their specific flights," was the consistent advice.
