Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent action-packed game that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in action and madness with similar excitement, all while presenting gripping, politically driven tales. Little surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two creators whose projects have embodied all of those qualities.
Show Details
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by featuring a different setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we are unsure of what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX family constantly supports me with their constant trust and assistance.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology program. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from season to season, while always exploring the essence of society through this complex and turbulent perspective, is a dream come true. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and present our common bold, visionary approach to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
