21 mins: Fierce Play as Each Side Battle

21st minute: The Broncos advance to halfway and almost pierce the opposition defense through Reece Walsh and Gehamat Shibasaki on the left flank. A further excellent delivery from Reynolds on the final play maintains the Broncos' momentum. Over three plays they stay in control, but a couple of offloads release the speedy Jahrome Hughes, and when he's brought down on the 40-meter line, a set restart is given for holding the player. Melbourne are now in rhythm, and William Warbrick breaks through the defense, followed by Xavier Coates making a dash – only for Reece Walsh to make high contact with a shoulder! Is that a sin-binning? No, says Grant Atkins, because the winger was dropping low. Walsh is placed on report regardless, and Melbourne resume their onslaught.

19th Minute: Munster Leads Melbourne Attack

19 mins: Cameron Munster is busy as Melbourne charge quickly down to their 30-meter line. On the right side, Hughes lofts a kick, Eliesa Katoa rushes up, but in the aerial battle, the second-rower knocks on, and Brisbane at last get a breather.

18 mins: Melbourne Apply Force on Brisbane

18th minute: Melbourne execute a textbook set from the kickoff and put significant pressure on Mariner with the final kick. Once more, the Brisbane struggle to advance near halfway in response, and Reynolds is compelled to kick long to keep his team in touch.

17th Minute: Injury for Melbourne

17 mins: It’s not all good news for Melbourne. Howarth has been replaced due to a groin issue. Wishart is entering in his place.

CONVERTED TRY! Melbourne 12-6 Brisbane (Katoa, 15)

Spectacular, just brilliant. Following consecutive set restarts, Brisbane are tiring. From tackle three near the try line on the left side, the Storm move the ball inside for two passes before Jahrome Hughes drops the ball onto his toe and the charging Eliesa Katoa times his charge perfectly to pounce on the bobbling ball and stand to mark his team’s second try!

From slightly right of the posts, Meaney converts his second conversion.

12 mins: Melbourne Display Exciting Attack

12th minute: The Storm appear thrilling in offense. There’s speed from the play-the-ball, power from the forwards, and sharp passing from the backs. A dangerous attack ends with a kick high to the left corner that is knocked on by Walsh and results in a infringement to the Storm for an obstruction on Coates. The Storm decline the penalty goal and get to work under the posts. There’s a six again – and another – as Cameron Munster dances side to side.

10th Minute: Tense Play

10th minute: Utokiamanu has delivered as promised from the start and his run from the kickoff allows first Grant, then Ryan Papenhuyzen, to snipe from dummy-half. Hughes kicks from 40 meters and Walsh catches the bomb on his 10-meter line. The Broncos show less penetration in this set and get lucky on the final play when Ben Hunt's pass to Adam Reynolds is dropped. Fortunately, the veteran halfback delivers a great kick to turn Coates around and makes the Storm winger to run from his in-goal. The Broncos are too eager with their chase, catching the winger high, and Melbourne can gain attacking field position.

SUCCESSFUL TRY! Melbourne 6-6 Brisbane (Meaney, 8)

From the scrum, Utoikamanu drives hard to the 20-meter line. Next, from fast play from the play-the-ball, every key Storm player handle the ball as they catch and pass out to the right hand side until Nick Meaney straightens up, angles in at serious pace, and carves through a flimsy defensive line to score for an instant reply!

The centre dusts himself down to kick the goal. We have a shootout!

7 mins: Both Sides Exchange Sets

7 mins: Both sides trade conservative sets around midfield, but then the Broncos look to expand on their left, only to be unable to find Shibasaki with the pass. William Warbrick rushes up and earns a knock on for his efforts.

5 mins: Ideal Opening for Broncos

5th minute: This marks the absolute dream start for Brisbane, scoring first before Melbourne have even touched the ball, in an offensive play led by both Haas and Walsh. The Melbourne might feel a little aggrieved at the referee blowing such an quick infringement, but they were clearly breached by the blistering Broncos attack.

CONVERTED TRY! Storm 0-6 Broncos (Deine Mariner, 3)

After kicking downfield, Brisbane begin their attack. Melbourne give away a six-again for offside, and quickly the ball is in the danger area. Reece Walsh positions himself? Waiting on the right edge, drawing in Jack Howarth, standing his ground, then someway offloading to Mariner on his outside. The outside back steps inside, crosses the try line, then barely remains in the field of play as he moves to touchdown under the posts.

A review occurs before Reynolds kicks the goal, but the Bunker upholds the referee's call. Accor Stadium is rocking to the sound of ecstatic fans.

2 mins: Quick Infringement

2 mins: Jensen, not Payne Haas, takes the initial carry of the night and Melbourne are quick to tackle… but just three tackles later the Storm concede the first penalty of the game for Harry Grant impeding Payne Haas on the floor. The Broncos immediately on the attack.
