Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for questions to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received significant support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win of course but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

The manager lamented recurring shortcomings from his team in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a spell of this nature with performances so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
